Although pdf can be viewed on the kindle; It isn't suitable for reading books. The pages need zooming, and you loose all the options of customizing the font to your preferred size and line spacing.

To convert pdf's ( or .lit & .epub) to Kindle's native format (.mobi) without a conversion program. Follow the instructions below,
1. Go to Zamzar
Follow the three steps on the screen:
STEP 1: Browse the file to be converted
STEP 2: Select .mobi as the format to be converted to
STEP 3: Enter your email address (this is only used to email you, your converted file; I promise, no spam)
2. Open your Inbox
You will recieve a email from zamzar containing your download link. Open and download.
3. Transfer the file to Kindle
